Jackson Brodie is back, now a private detective based in Yorkshire. Told from the point of view of various characters, the story involves criminal dealings at all levels – and Jackson, ably assisted by (or is he now assisting?) his ex-colleague in the police, Reggie, tracks down the wrong-doers.
The author has a deft hand in controlling the various strands of the narrative, and brings them together skilfully. Laced with humour – I laughed out loud at certain turns of phrase – the book shows Kate Atkinson back on top form.
I do love Jackson Brodie.
