A new book from the Miles Franklin shortlisted author of Past the Shallows and When the Night Comes.

There Was Still Love is a moving meditation on family and memory. The novel oscillates between decades and cities, from 1930s Prague to 1980s Melbourne. It follows Mana and Eva – twin sisters painfully separated from each other – as well as Mala Liska or Little Fox, granddaughter of Mana and her husband, Bill.

Throughout these interwoven family trees we see the ongoing influence of history, from the German occupation of Czechoslovakia to the Prague Spring.
